Consumables Scheme training launches
Monday, 17 March 2025

Training for health professionals that is essential to accessing the Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme (CWCS) launches on 20 March.

The training created by Monash University consists of a series of modules each designed for a specific type of health professional: registered nurses, nurse practitioners, podiatrists, medical practitioners in primary care, and Aboriginal Health Practitioners.

The modules teach evidence-based best practice in wound care and will equip clinicians with the skills to effectively manage chronic wounds and utilise the CWCS ordering portal.

Free online learning

Each free, one-hour online training module covers key topics such as wound assessment, wound management and the use of the consumables ordering portal. The training modules have been tailored to suit each professional group, and were developed in collaboration with leading academics and clinical experts.

By completing the relevant module, a clinician will be able to:

  • Assess individuals with chronic wounds, including identifying and describing key wound characteristics
  • Manage individuals with chronic wounds, including identifying and selecting the appropriate wound consumables
  • Effectively utilise the Australian consumable ordering portal.

Upon successful completion of the training, you will receive a certificate that can be used towards your continuing professional development (CPD).
